Misterpiggy was awed by the size of Tokyo and all of the buildings and skyscrapers he saw from the bus from Narita airport into Tokyo. Never in his life had he seen so many buildings all jammed together shoulder to shoulder. It was getting dark when the Airport limousine bus arrived at the Keio Plaza Hotel in the nishi Shinjuku business district. The hotel is situated right across the street from the twin towers of the Tokyo Metro Government buildings and about a brisk five minute walk to Shinjuku train station.
Luckily Misterpiggy had pre-registered at the hotel a few weeks earlier over the Internet and consequently hotel check-in was a breeze.
The hotel itself was built back in the 70's and it was the tallest building in Tokyo in it's day, but it has been since dwarfed by the many office towers and skyscrapers of late. Misterpiggy noticed that the hotel still had a rather 70's feel to it...the lobby was rather large, bland and sterile.
Misterpiggy's room (#1258) was located in the south tower and was the lowest floor of guest rooms. It too reflected the 70's feel and although quite spacious, did feel kind of dated. The south tower rooms are geared towards the tour group class of rooms so it did not resemble the rooms that were posted on the hotel's website.
Being on the lowest guest floor meant an inspiring view of Japanese salarymen working late nights in the office towers across from the hotel. Misterpiggy was thankful for the hotel room's free Internet access.
This is the postcard that Misterpiggy got from the Keio Plaza hotel.
