Thursday: Seeing Tokyo by train

shinjuku tokyo at 6 am

Misterpiggy awoke and looked at the clock and realized that it was only 5:30 am.  Unable to get back to sleep, he ventured outside at about 6 am just to explore the Shinjuku area and found his way to the massive Shinjuku train station where it was already abuzz with commuters.

Speaking of trains, Misterpiggy learned about an all day train pass during his pre trip research and he went to the JR ticket office in Shinjuku station to inquire and buy the pass.  Misterpiggy wants to let you know how easy it is to travel around Tokyo using the Japan Railways (JR) Tokunai tourist pass which allows a visitor to have unlimited JR train access all day for 730Y. There are several train lines serving Tokyo, but this pass is exclusive to the JR line. Fortunately, the JR Yamanote line is a circular line that has stations at most of the important districts that Misterpiggy wanted to visit during his time in Tokyo. Misterpiggy used the Tokunai pass for each day he was in Tokyo.

Here's what his all day pass looked like.  If you visit Tokyo for the first time and get intimidated by the extensive and complex subway lines, just get the Tokunai pass.
